Position Overview:
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or Technology Lead to spearhead the development of a groundbreaking digital platform for our nonprofit organization. This individual will be responsible for creating and managing a new application, which will serve as both a comprehensive directory and an event calendar for our community. In addition to this primary task, the CTO will guide us in integrating innovative technology solutions throughout the organization to optimize processes, improve user experience, and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Development:
- Lead the development and deployment of a user-friendly directory and event calendar application.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define the scope, objectives, and technical requirements of the application.
- Manage the end-to-end development process, from initial concept through testing, launch, and ongoing improvements.
- Technology Strategy & Innovation:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Introduce and integrate new technologies and tools to streamline internal processes and enhance our digital presence.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging trends in technology, ensuring the nonprofit remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Build and lead a team of developers, designers, and IT specialists (as necessary).
- Collaborate with other departments to assess their technology needs and develop solutions that align with their goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all technology-related initiatives and decisions.
- System Management & Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance and security of all digital platforms and infrastructure.
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of the nonprofit’s digital tools and systems.
- Data Management & Security:
- Establish and maintain best practices for data management, privacy, and security.
- Implement effective data tracking and reporting systems to support organizational decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a leadership role in technology, ideally within the nonprofit sector or in a startup environment.
- Strong technical expertise in application development (full-stack development, cloud platforms, APIs, etc.).
- Experience with developing or managing directory-based platforms or event management systems is a plus.
- Excellent understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Passion for leveraging technology to support social good and nonprofit missions.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, etc., and their applications in nonprofits.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
- Familiarity with CRM systems, digital fundraising tools, and other nonprofit tech solutions.
